This was the first of a series of 5 pinbacks we did around the theme of Obey Obama, inspired, obviously, by the posters that Shepherd Fairey produced for the Obama campaign.

Produced in a limited edition of 48 pins, sequentially numbered, it quickly sold out.

BARUCH OBAMA BUTTON IN RED

Let's start off by acknowledging that we here at Atelier Bagatelle are absolutely supporters of Barack Obama - just check out our other buttons

However, our cynical nature leads us to amazement at the way some supporters seem to worship the new president. And so we have created this Obama / Messiah button

We were inspired in part by a weblog - Is Obama the Messiah, which has from time to time featured some of the pins from our Obey Obama series.

As you may know, Barack is Arabic for blessed, which in Hebrew is Baruch.

The design is based on one of our earlier OBEY OBAMA buttons, which are in turn an hommage to the work of Shepherd Fairey of OBEY GIANT fame.

Flanking the stencil style visage of Obama are a Star of David and a peace sign

There will be just 60 of these buttons produced in this color combination. We plan another edition with the main colors reversed.

Inspired by the recession / depression of 2008 - 2009, the folks at Atelier Bagatelle have created these three recession themed pinbacks.

The top left reads WELCOME TO HARD TIMES 2009 - and is based on the iconic Welcome to Las Vegas Sign.

The top righ button reads THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF WALL STREET - a reference to the unprecedented government investment in banks and finacial services companies.

The third button features a grafitto from the Punk / Yuppie wars of New York City's Lower East Side during the 80s, when hardscrabble punks and squatters contended with well heeled Yuppies who were intent on gentrifying the gritty neighborhood .
